About Maasai Mara National Reserve
Stretching across 1,510 square kilometres in southwestern Kenya, the Maasai Mara is widely regarded as Africa's greatest wildlife reserve. Named after the Maasai people who inhabit the surrounding region, the Mara offers year-round game viewing and peaks during July to October when over 1.5 million wildebeest cross the Mara River in what is considered one of nature's greatest spectacles.
Beyond the wildlife, the Mara offers deep cultural immersion with the Maasai community — visiting enkiamas (homesteads), learning about pastoral traditions, and witnessing age-old ceremonies that have endured for centuries.
Highlights
- The Great Wildebeest Migration (July–October)
- Big Five game drives across open savanna
- Authentic Maasai village cultural visits
